V8 Predicts

PASS (no official bet)

A PASS records that V8 evaluated an event and issued no official recommendation on it.

In plain English

It is a decision, not an absence of one, and it is published with a timestamp and a reason drawn from a public vocabulary. Abstaining when the publication standard is not met is the intended behaviour rather than a failure to find something.

Example

An evaluated game appears in the public record as evaluated with no official bet, with the reason stated.

Why it matters

A service that only shows you its bets is showing you a filtered record. Publishing the passes is what makes the rest of the record checkable.

How V8 uses this term

A blank pick card is not a blank model run. V8 publishes what it evaluated and declined, and does not manufacture recommendations to fill a page.
